If you’re anything like me, the thought of starting a blog makes your palms sweat and stomach feel sick. Blogging is intimidating, to say the least. It seems so difficult to find topics, get creative with content ideas, plan out an editorial calendar for posts…and on top of that, there are all those technical things like picking a domain name or figuring out how to host it. But don’t let any of this stop you! Blogging can be easy and enjoyable as long as you know what steps are necessary before even getting started. With that out of the way, let’s dive in!
Unfortunately, blogs are not considered a priority by most business owners and professionals regardless of whether or not it’s a career or hobby. Yet, for the few that do embrace blogging as part of their overall business strategy, they can afford to relax since they know they’ll receive benefits from job inquiries and clients in their network. For bloggers looking to take advantage of blog clients specifically, there’s no better way than starting up a blog about your niche. I mean, you’re a ghostwriter! You should have tons of clients who want to write for you!
Just look at the popularity of professional bloggers. People who would never think about hiring a ghostwriter but find their way onto their blog because they are interested in their niche have been turning to professional blogs for a long time now. Bloggers, in general, know how to get results from starting up and having a presence on the Internet, but it’s important to remember that not everyone knows what a professional blogger is. You will have to establish yourself as a professional writer first and foremost. Having a blog is one of the best ways to do this.
As I said before, blogging is about sharing! It’s about sharing your passion, expertise, and knowledge with others. But it goes out to people who may not even know what you do for a living because they are intrigued by the value you provide in your niche. This is a great opportunity for ghostwriters like yourself to ride on the coattails of other bloggers who are writing in your niche.
If you don’t have a blog, you can still ride on the coattails of bloggers in your niche by posting comments on their blogs. Bloggers love to see their work be liked by others and will reward you if your comment is considered unique and insightful. This will increase your influence as well as establish you as a professional writer. In turn, other bloggers in your niche will be more apt to come across you because of the credibility they know they’ll gain by having you around their blog.
Regardless of whether you already have a blog or not, it’s time to start thinking about how you can use your blog for business purposes and get your name out there!
